NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

Congratulations on your acceptance to McNally Smith College of Music! Our goal is to make your transition into college as smooth and enjoyable as possible. New Student Orientation is an important piece to this process. Orientation will give you the information and tools that you will need to be successful in your education. You will be receiving detailed information throughout the summer, and will be contacted by a Peer Advisor in August. However, please feel free to contact us at any time with questions or concerns. We look forward to meeting you in September!

Meet your Peer Advisers

Jenna Anderson
Jenna is a Music Business major at McNally Smith College of Music. She is a saxophonist, a writer and a movie enthusiast.  Jenna grew up in small-town, Iowa, but has happily transplanted herself into downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota. Her favorite musical artist is Jason Mraz, her favorite Beatle is George, and her favorite color is blue. Jenna especially loves to shoot pool and spend hours perusing used bookstores. When she’s not rocking out at shows or getting lost in a book, Jenna can usually be found working in the McNally Smith Bookstore. With strong communication and leadership skills, Jenna looks forward to pursuing a career in artist management and promotions.

Andrew Burgess
Andrew is a 21-year-old student, hailing from Grand Forks, ND. A Guitar Performance major at McNally Smith, he lists his interests and hobbies as: guitar, composing, contra III, and more guitar. Andrew’s musical tastes range from metal, to ragtime, to blues. Future goal: to tour the world with his music.

Pat Dougherty
Originally from the Philadelphia area, Pat Dougherty is a walking music business utility closet. He started Keep In Touch records at the age of 16. He produced three records before the age of 20 (one of which is available on iTunes). He has had his hand in being a booking agent, manager, local sound tech, radio show host, and not to mention composer and performer who plays nearly 17 different instruments. A self admitted music nerd, Pat enrolled at McNally Smith for Music Business.

Josh Stoll
A 20-year-old from Warroad, MN, he lists his favorite bands as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis, Blink-182, and Weezer.  His favorite television shows include the Colbert Report and Home Improvement, and his favorite drink is Arizona Honey Ice Tea. Josh is currently a sophomore at McNally Smith, pursuing a degree in Recording Technology.

Andrew Zahorsky
Andrew is from Chisholm, Mn.  He currently resides on Grand Ave in Saint Paul, MN with his puppy Eleanor Rigby and his partner Anthony.  His interests include music, political activism, GLBT and social issues. His hobbies include singing, travel, skiing, horseback riding and playing wii!  His musical tastes include Harry Connick, Jr, Micheal Buble, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Cher, Tina Turner, Postal Service, and Death Cab.  He is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Music Performance in Voice, with a Music Business Minor.  After graduation, he plans to continue his education to obtain his Masters Degree. Future Plans: to make moneymaking music.
