LIBERAL ARTS

Learning for a Lifetime, Learning for Success

Your ability to connect with others, communicate clearly, think critically and creatively, and understand the broader world might make the difference in creating and sustaining a music career. Liberal arts classes add breadth and depth to the music education core of McNally Smith College.  These courses are part of a well-balanced and rich education that cultivates knowledge, as well as intellectual and artistic skills – all vital for a successful entry into professional life.

We offer a wide curriculum of communications, social sciences, humanities, natural science, math, and elective classes that are geared towards artists’ needs, including the physiology of music performance.  Traditional liberal arts classes are given with a musical slant to stimulate student interest.

Creative Writing, Exploring the Fine Arts, Interpersonal Communication: Presentation and Collaboration in the Music Industry – these are just a few examples of liberal arts courses designed to help you expand and develop your artistic options.

Through a curriculum that emphasizes written and interpersonal communication skills, critical thinking, and awareness of the world, students are prepared to enter and build a life beyond academia.
